Joey Salatino is the embodiment of what it means to be a Schaumburg Saxon. He exemplifies a tireless work ethic that consistently leads to success in his academic pursuits while setting a remarkable example for his peers. Beyond his academic achievements, Joey models the core values of a Saxon through his active participation in various clubs and organizations, always demonstrating integrity, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to supporting others.As a leader, Joey is a true force of positivity and connection. He leads not through loud declarations, but through quiet, meaningful actions that foster a sense of community and friendship. His approach to leadership—rooted in compassion and interpersonal connection—makes a lasting impact on everyone around him. Whether he is lending a helping hand, mentoring others, or simply offering words of encouragement, he inspires those around him to be their best selves.
In the classroom, Joey has earned numerous accolades that underscore his dedication and drive, including being named an Illinois State Scholar, IHSCCA All-Sectional Academic, and a member of the National Honor Society. Yet, it is not just his accomplishments that set him apart—it is his approach to achieving them. Joey thrives on being challenged and learning from every opportunity, maintaining a positive attitude even in the face of difficult coursework. His genuine curiosity and resilience make him an invaluable presence in any learning environment, as he inspires classmates to persevere and approach challenges with optimism.
Outside of the classroom, Joey extends his leadership and kindness to a variety of activities, including his role on the Soccer Team, his work with St. Baldrick’s, and his contributions as an Illinois Youth Soccer Referee and Mentor. His friends, teammates, and activity sponsors consistently praise his “can do” attitude and uplifting spirit. Whether on the field or in a meeting, Joey’s dedication and enthusiasm create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcomed and valued.

He is a shining example of what “We Are SHS” truly stands for—a leader, a friend, and a role model who continually strives to make the world a better place through his kindness, humility, and unwavering positivity.
